OK I know I have TVTOF blog running which will focus on small farming. However our awesome salesman Bryan has offered a "farm manager" type job. Located in Westbridge hills it offers wide open spaces for large scale farming plus as the name suggests a few hilly areas to add a little difficulty. Details regarding the offer are here, fs19communitytrader.freeforums.net/thread/1030/wanted-experienced-farmer-inquireBefore I start I want some name suggestions as Cheesey Farmer must stay at TVTOF or as Bryan mentioned I would " have insane amounts of frequent flyer miles". So hit me up with a name please guys, and girls.

Hello fellow farmers, my name is Chester Eely as you already know I am working for Bryan, our awesome salesman. His cousin Chet ran his farm in WBH into the red. Bryan put in 1.5mill to save the farm from bank. Its my job to get him his money back then the farm is mine, sound good to me. Have 50k in account that Bryan left for expenses and only 200 cash in my pocket. Enough rambling, I am currently standing at the railway station realising I forgot to get directions to the farm. Oh well I'm sure some one in the nearby park might know, I'm off to see if I can find some food, it was a long train ride and they had no buffet car.

Wow they are a friendly bunch around here, while getting something to eat I was greeted about 20 times. I guess someone who isn't local stands out like... Well we all know. By then I had lost track of everyone's names and was tiring of explaining my sudden appearance repeatedly. At that point the man next to me introduced himself as Lucas and offered me a ride to the farm as he knew where Chet's farm was. I quickly follewd him to his pickup.

Turns out Lucas knew Chet well, and regularly hired him to do fieldwork. Before he dropped me off at the farm he also hinted that if I ever found myself with nothing to do he might be able to find something. After unpacking I had a look around the lovely house that I may one day own. Venturing outside I immediately noticed the chicken pen, as it had been a few days since anyone had been here I figured they would need feeding. Bryan had told me he left some feed and sure enough under a tree was a big bag. In the shed past the tree I spotted a Fendt 511c with front loader and forks conveniently attached. Also in the shed is a New Holland TX harvester and Case 5250 pro. Chickens feed I decided to check out the fields as it was a lovely early spring morning I walked. Farm comprises of field 16 which has wheat sprouting and 17 which has stubble from last years crop. So I went straight to the shop in the trusty Fendt to purchase an Agromasz BM75 mulch harrow for the sum of 32,160 dropping the account balance to around 18,000. On the way home I discovered I forgot just how heavy the BM75 is when I had a rather scary wheel standing moment. After a slower drive from then I got to the farm and immediately swapped for a bigger weight. Just having a tea break before heading out to the field. Chester Eely, now getting back to work. imgur.com/gallery/NvyVM9N

What a day it has been, and its not over yet only 3pm. I got going on the stubble mulching when a little while in I noticed someone parked near the house watching me. I pulled up and went to investigate, turns out Chet still lives nearby and asked if I could give him any work. I couldn't say no, it used to be his farm and im sure it must be hard being in his shoes. He already knew the tractor (it was his) so I just gave him a quick lesson on how the harrow works and off he went. As I neared the house I heard the phone ringing, so I raced inside. It was Lucas offering me work fertilizing field 12 for him and apparently its big, so hopefully it pays well.... imgur.com/gallery/qvFveKX

That was nice of you, Chester. Just make you sure you pay him the same as any other farmhand. No special treatment.

I was blown away by Chet, he seems to be a really good operator of machines. Doesn't over work anything and he keeps dead straight lines when working, something I still struggle with.
Anyhow back to my progress. Picked up the contract with Lucas, he wanted liquid fert layed down on his sprouting crop. Got the sprayer hooked up to the Case, filled her up was about to leave then realised I would need the Fendt as it has the narrow wheels.
A quick trip out to find Chet and swap over tractors, leaving him to get on with the mulching in the Case (no crops to damage) I took off for Lucas' field.
Well it was definitely large, took nearly a whole tank of fert to get done. That cost me a little but Lucas paid me 14k, which seemed too much to me but he said that is the average wage of farmhands here, so i didnt argue. While I was doing that Chet sent a text saying he had finished up mulching and would call around tomorrow to get paid and have proper introduction.
On the way home I noticed field 17 with wheat in it had weeds growing... So emptied the sprayer, washed it out and loaded up with herbicide. Found the Lizard chain harrow weeder Bryan said was here and I'm just about to head back out. 5pm now, so hoping to get done before nightfall...

Before I could get out to weed and spray heard a car pull up and a knock at the door. It was Chet, he had another local farmer wanting their field mulched today and willing to pay 10k As I wanted to get on top of the weeds in the wheat I told him if he wanted he could take the Case and mulched to do it. Chet headed off and I got to weeding and spraying. I finished around 6pm, Chet didn't get back till around 8pm. I thanked him for his work and payed him an extra $500 as I believe he earnt it. $24,000 income so I am to believe that 10% $2400 is to be transfered to Bryan's acc

Last night i found an online trader that offered a demo of a CLAAS axion and bourgault seeder so I immediately placed an order, told it would arrive at local dealers asap. 6am I woke to a call from Lucas, he told me a local woman Lemmy Lark had a field she wanted sprayed with fert and was willing to pay 10k. Got that done by 7am, using the trusty 511c Fendt it was a breeze. On the way home I seen a distinct CLAASY green at the dealers, my order had already arrived. Thank you Bryan. Time to get sowing...

Dear Bryan, I cannot thank you enough for getting me out of hot water with the creditors. I was sad to have to give up the farm. I found farming to be very enjoyable and I had become quite skilled at operating the machinery, however I obviously lacked the necessary bookkeeping skills. It wasn't as easy as you made it look. I was driving past the other day and seen someone working the fields. He pulled up and came over to introduce himself as Chester Eely. He told me that he would be running the farm and getting your money back.
As I have no other work in the area and welfare barely covers living expenses, I offered to work as a farmhand. Chester immediately took me up on the offer and set me off using his newly purchased mulching harrow, while he went off to spray a field for Lucas. I finished before he returned so headed home. Around 5pm I had a call from a friend who seen the mulcher in action and wanted me to do a field for them. I explained I didn't run the farm anymore but I was now working as a farmhand. They asked if Chester might agree to do it so I went to find out. Turns out Chester was busy weeding so got me to take on the contract. Didn't finish till 8pm but it was worth it as Chester must of been impressed, he payed me a bonus $500.
Hopefully I can help him to get your money back ASAP. I still have quite a few contacts that regularly need work done so I might find myself doing contracts to boost the farms profit while Chester focuses on the farm.
Give my love to Auntie, will be coming to visit once I get back on my feet and can afford airfare. Best wishes Chet

Wow this CLAAS Axion is amazing, pulled the Bourgault to the farm effortlessly. Filled up with wheat seed as I already have one spring wheat field I figured I would plant another. I don't run fertilizer in seeders as i like to run preemptive herbicides immediately after sowing, if you lay down fert with seed the herbicides are not effective IMO. Headed out to the field, 2 passes in the rain started pouring down making it very hard to keep traction pulling the Bourgault so pulled up till rain passes..

While waiting for rain Chet visited and offered to help get the wheat in the ground. We had some lunch and around 1pm rain passed so I headed out to get the Class going. Meanwhile Chet got the seeder and front tank hooked up to the Case and joined me in the field about 30min later. Once seeding was done (about 4-5pm) we called it a day. Time for some well earnt rest... Earning today totalled $10k so $1k is going to Bryan, making $2.4k total, I think?

Just rolled into the second month of spring. I got to weeding and preemptive spraying for weed on the newly down wheat at sunrise. Chet arrived around 9 so we decided to knock out some contract work. Chet got to work on a huge field while I went to lease another sprayer. We got a few contracts done for fertilizing using the sprayers then took back the leased sprayer and did a bit of weeding. Had to spend hour or two in the workshop converting the mulch harrow to a weeder so I could help Chet, he was using the chain harrow weeder on a big contract but had a lot of acres so I thought I would help. Didn't finish till 10pm but it was worth it, made $60k for the day, another 6k to repay Bryan. Till next time I'm Chester, thanks for listening to me ramble....

Recently purchased through an online trader a used Case 490 disc harrow from a bloke named FarmerCaseIH, so this morning I met Chet at the dealers with a leased D754 truck and Lizard Trex6 trailer. I gave Chet the address and off he went. Meanwhile I headed home to do a little accounting, discovered that I am paying just over $8000 per cycle for maintenance. No wonder Chet ended up in the red... Will post again asap, for now I gotta work on profitability

Well this is a short one. Chet was quick so lease for truck+trailer only cost $2000. Case disc harrow $5500 thats $7500 total, so i saved $2500 compared to buying new and farmer case kept this in great condition. Swapped out the Case 5250's narrows for big Michelin's to help with traction and compaction. We got to work on cultivation contracts immediately, I did one for Lucas paying $5000 Chet helped by finding another contract paying $2500 which he took on. Another rather large cultivating contract paying $13500 came to us so while Chet got started with the Case combo I headed to the store to see if I could lease another cultivator to get to contract done quicker. Luckily enough the local dealers had decided to get an identical cultivator to the one I just purchased, the manager had seen mind Ind operation and was hoping others would be interested in one. He agreed to let me use it for $500, as long as I recommended it to friends. I headed out to help Chet but the trusty Fendt just didn't want to pull it. One engine upgrade, a quick wheel change (duel rears) and $8500 later the Fendt is now a Tuned 515c. By the time we were done it was time to come home. $21,000 earnt in contracts so $2100 into the safe for Bryan

Well I know I shouldn't be wasting money on impulse buys but an online trader offered discounts on all trucks in stock. Unluckily for the farm account they had a D754, my fave truck, and they gave me finance with only 10k down payment and 5%interest rate. So it should arrive sometime tomorrow. Anyway with that new expense I decided I better get some contract work to pay the bills. After a few phone calls I was offered a job from the last farmer (Ben) we did the big cultivation contract for. He wanted Corn planted and paying $30k I planned to do it with my own gear however, He insisted we use his Steyr 6300 with his Horsch Maestro 12 as well so I called Chet to come help running our planter while I used Bens gear. We got it done pretty quickly with the 2 planters. So off home for a break and some food then back looking for another bit of work

Well its been a busy day, Chet got us a job drilling some wheat for a nice payment of $27k. He used their Fendt 900 Vario MT with a Hatzenbichler Terminator setup for that. Chet also picked up some fertilizing for $12.5k, I swear Chet is worth his weight in contract contacts.
Meanwhile today I focused on repair of the farmhouse and outbuildings to try to reduce the maintenance costs. Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter and $12k later I had managed to reduce the costs to just over $1000. That's way better than the $8000+ before the work.
Also noticed that my fields are in need of some fertilizing, but that's for the morning. All in all it was a productive day, just enough time to go do the books then off to bed.

Early phonecall from dealership was more welcome than one would expect, my new truck had arrived! Quickly got hold of Chet to ask him to come sort out fertilizing my fields while I went to grab the truck.
Salesman talked me into buying brand new, full retail, no discount Lizard BP-9 back and a Lizard WM fert/lime spreader for an extra $24k (they threw in a 3pt adapter modification for free). 2 contracts and $66k later I cannot disagree that it is paying its way.
Also decided to sell my 2 Strautmann SEK 802 trailers, hopefully in the next few days I will get a chance to put an add in the online trader.
$6600 to Bryan today

Talk to me next time, though, I probably could have got you the attacher and 5% off your accessories. Might have even rolled them into the financing for you.
I'll note your payments on my spread sheet.

I actually planned to order the accessories for the truck through the online FS Community Trader. The pieces they sold me were not exactly what I wanted but the staff were just so pushy they wouldnt take no for an answer. (Paid on commissions i bet) So very likely you will get a trade in request shortly

Well Chet and myself (Chet mainly) have been very busy, it is now very late spring and summer is just round the corner however you wouldn't think so as it is raining buckets.
The wheat is growing nicely and when it dries out a bit we will soon turn our attention to some grass work. Here is a quick breakdown of what we have done. $110,000 worth of fertilizing contracts with the D754 truck/solid fert spreader combo (thanks to Bryan for hooking me up with such a sweet ride). A rather weird contract where the WestBridge County wanted saplings planted on the bare hillside west of the dealership, some around train station and a few in the park. 400 trees and some time later I had another $35000 So $145000 in contract income. Bryan's 10% plus 1st $8000 payment for Truck finance
Spent a little, $10000 on ornaments, landscaping and gardening in house yard. $12000 on spotlights around the farm yard. $600 on tractor repairs (I got bored one rainy day). $5000 on 10 small beehives (these are awesome as they pay roughly the same as my property maintenance costs) Annnnnddddd.....
I purchased....
For $82,500....
The smallest field I could find, plot 6, tiny little speck of field on the edge of town. Got lucky though, I has fertilized grass growing, just in time for summer. Till next time, happy farming
