Hey everyone, looking to start a local firewood business but... I don't have any trees at all.. I have a couple saplings planted on my tiny lot but its gonna be some years before I get any wood.. as its currently winter where I am, I figure I would pick up some firewood on here.
I am looking for the premium cuts of the trees.. just the lower thick sections.. 1-2m is fine.. I am looking to spend about $3,000 on some for now.. If you can help, let me know how many logs you have and how much you want for each and we can work something out. Thanks in advance. Happy farming!

I have 27 5m sections from clearing land for my animal complex in Montana. Come pick them up and I'll let you have the lot for $2,500. I was just going to sell them locally, but the sawmill up north didn't want them and I need them gone, so you'd kinda be doing me a favor. Save them from the chipper.

Ok, they're not on my farm, though, you'll have to go to the area south of the dealerships where I built my animal pens. They're all stacked there.

Hmm.. I figured I would stop by and see bryan but he doesn't seem to be home.. I think this is his house.. the address is right.. I'll check the other houses I seen nearby... No one answering here either.. Maybe he is in the field.. I mean.. its the right time of year here.... Wow... EMPTY fields.... he is really milking this time off.. jeez.. I will check by the sheds Well he sure keeps a clean yard but he forgot this tractor out.. this is a clear CASE of neglect! hmmm.. I wonder........ HOLY SLURRY BATMAN HE LEFT THE KEYS IN IT!!!!! wEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Now to put it back so he doesn't notice! THERE!!! Now where did he say those logs were?! Before anyone says that I am being stupid and ruining the forum, I would like to point out that this fun roleplay was based on a true series of events in the 1940s by my grandpa and a few of his friends. ~Jessi~

I said they were off farm, south of the dealership in the area that was recently clear cut. But you can wash that Steiger for me, while you're playing with it. Pressure washer is by the shop.

to be honest.... this WAS a great bit of fun... I enjoy writing and doing those screenshots and I had a real good feeling I would get some smiles from this.. but unfortunately its all a bit..... lot.... entirely completely and without question... derailed? off topic? me being a terrible forum admin? heck idk it just seems like this maybe shouldn't have happened... maybe I could do a roleplay blog.. maybe I could even try to duplicate your farms using screenshots and blog deliveries and stuff (minus all the..... fire.. of course).. it was fun but now I am going to have to go thru and clean this up as I feel bad like I kinda maybe made our forum and what we do look like a joke

(ok so I am going to leave the first bit in as it was funny.. the other bits got carried away and ended up spilling onto bryans blog so I am removing all of those bits.. srry to anyone bothered but back on topic) Here we go, returned and cleaned.. no harm done

I got those logs home.. um.. thats a lot of logs.. are you sure you only want $2,500?

I might have to try that on Medicine Creek with its “weird” trees. And I just realized Jessi put Gas into a Diesel.

I’d love to see it implemented like DEF in the next game, almost there but disabled. Otherwise some poor unknowing souls would total their 600k quatrac’s engine’s fuel system.

ok to break roleplay one more time but for a good reason (I think).. a small review of this mod.. honestly the logging in this game does nothing for me.. it is simply not how its done irl for a crop/animal farmer or at least not where I am.. you hire this work out.. but "logging" still has a place.. for your average person in my area interesting in this sort of thing its firewood.. we don't own scorpion kings around here lmao.. its some guy in the woods behind his house or on his farm or even someone who cuts trees for a living with their bucket truck and giant chipper like my uncle has done for 40+ years with a chainsaw and a truck.. we sell firewood by the truckloads.. fs does NOTHING for this.. but this mod on the other hand.. well lets see what I uncovered in my initial testing...
1- you still need something to actually cut the tree with.. the axe and hatchet included in the mod only seem to split the small sections.. 2- I don't know how far away you can be but if you "slit" the logs with your axe/hatchet next to the empty pallets, it loads them up with the appropriate amount of wood. 3- The pallets must be bought each time. They disappear when you sell the wood. You can lift them when empty but the full ones require powered assistance (forklift, loader, bluh bluh bluh) 4- It will accept small pieces. I am not sure exactly how small but I know it will not accept anything 2 meters or larger but I had cut some about 1.5 give or take and that seemed to work nicely. 5- You can place the sell points anywhere. They show up on the map and firewood is listed in the prices page but there are no sell points or prices listed there but this may be some issue on my end. 6- It is a fair amount of work but the pallets seem very lucrative.
I am not sure if its more profitable to do wood this way or the standard logging practices but this way feels a tad more realistic and absolutely more common. It really gives a reason for the small farmer to consider getting into logging even a little bit. It eats up a bit of time which will be nice work in the winter on seasons playthrus and overall seems to work well.. I give it 4.5 out of 5.. the only reason it doesn't get 5 of 5 is that the axe at the very least should have been capable of cutting a tree.

I am very thankful for those logs.. I had planned on doing some plow and salt work for some winter cash but so far there has been no snow and none in the forecast.. Glad I waited to buy the plow and salter

ok this is gonna require some further testing but the sale points seem to change color if you have sold them wood.. I am wondering if this means they wont buy more for a given time and how long it takes to reset.. what a nice surprise!

Nice i might have to check out this firewood mod, thanks for the review. I did a lot of firewood on campaign of France with one of the logsplitter mods. I think i bought it here on the forum. My poor old laptop i had back then didn't like it though, but i guess that this mod is much more fps friendly anyway.

I didn't mind the brief tangent. As I said, sometimes you need to cut loose and have some fun. And hey, for a brief time, I was the only farmer in Montana that I knew of that could honestly say he had a Steiger on his shop roof.

Oh, and yes, $2,500 is all I want. You did the work, you came to pick them up, you even washed the Steiger. Plus you did me a big favor getting them outta here.
