I thought of this, is a conversion ratio between machine hours in game and IRL would be useful for realistic pricing and such. I think a good ratio is somewhere between 1 in game hour to 20-50 IRL Hours, With the low end a 100hr machine (I have a couple) would be at 2,000hrs, perfectly reasonable for a 3 or 4 year old field work machine. The high end would be 5,000hrs, a little extreme but does make the more common low hour machines more realistic. But Seasons (which most of us play with) has a 30hr maintenance interval, so the 1:20 ratio would make the interval at 600 IRL hrs, a little high but most of us don't run it all the way down for maintenance. the 1:50 though would put it at 1,500hrs which I don't think even European contractors do between services. So what does everyone think of a board standard hour conversion ratio? I think that 1 ingame hour to 20 IRL hours would be the best.

The issue we would run into is that there's too many variables. Number of days for seasons and different time scales could change the math. So we just adopted actual machine hours for the calculus on valuation. I like the idea, even had the thought myself about how we use these things for days in game, but only put on 2-4 hours, or something like that.

Yes and No, it would still be very representative of its actual usage even across rapid fire seasons play, or long drawn out. Maybe adopt a roleplay ratio and an use the game data for business?

actually this is the sort of thing I discussed with members before.. I even have some mock up stuff I did trying some different ideas saved on my pc.. a "market".. some things would even vary like crop/product prices but other things like machine prices .. but it is a very large scale project that requires ongoing upkeep on my part and honestly, there just didn't seem to be enough buzz about it.. its really hard to say with these things as the vast majority of our community is very..... silent?
not sure why this is exactly as I have always encouraged participation but people seem hesitant to "pull up a chair" and relax.. makes it hard to judge and implement various ideas and projects as we always seem to have a handful of active users but no more than usually.. of course alot has happened.. hell maybe I did the whole thing backwards and buggered it all up and everyone is just too darn nice to tell me lol.. either way.. if we can garnish enough support for an idea like this, I will push forward.. if not, I have some other ideas that use this theme that I have discussed with bryan that I might like to try out

I was mainly thinking for comparing prices to IRL having a ratio would be useful otherwise the standard game hours work pretty well

actually it doesn't matter.. my mind is already made up on it!...... totally not being snarky tho ![B-|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/notamused.png) lol.. no I already have an idea that pretty well could make use of your conversion.. its an idea that some will love.. and some will hate/not care about.. and the upside.. the people who like and elect to use the new feature will be the only ones who can even see it!

That’s where I got the premise but decided that to be to high, no way IRL my in game operation could put 10,000hrs onto an 8R in the course of 2-3yrs. I was reading a CVT value thread on a UK forum recently and one guy did 3,000hrs a year contracting which everyone went nuts over thinking he was working himself to death but I digress on that note. So the 10k hrs would be highly unrealistic.

I think it is an interesting topic. It is something i have thought about in the past, but never really had an idea how to deal with it. So i decided that i don't know enough about it and moved on ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) (i am only a virtual farmer in the end). It does annoy me i little bit though sometimes when i see an ad with like 1.2 hours on a machine for a second hand price. but that is not specific to this forum, it annoys me in the game too. The most hours i ever had on a tractor in fs was about 400 and even that felt wrong for the many years that i had it and the amount that i used it .
