Hey everyone, I have come to you with another idea for our community. It is something I plan on using a lot personally. When I set this forum up for public use the idea was Roleplay and dynamic sales.. And I think I have hit and maintained that mark to varying degrees fairly well while maintaining my stance of it generally being something anyone might want to use regardless of overall playstyle.. But it has always left me wanting, much like the game itself does in terms of realism.. I have never been a farmer nor have I ever owned any machines (short of the old tractor and backhoe used for general land upkeep on the family "farm") but I have have worked with and around all manor of machines doing all kinds or odd work my whole life (I love any machine thats mobile and HUGE) and I know that the game is way off the mark and often times even what we have attempted to do here is not too much more than a stones throw in the direction of realism.
But how to fix this.. I am certainly not "revamping" the forum.. and I absolutely don't want to make any changes to the general structure of things that might put the more casual player/forum user off.. well.. its "easy".. I mean.. not really but its doable lol.. I have created a private group.. I will rename this group in the future but I just wanted to get that part setup so I can start adding my ideas to it.. things that pertain to this group will not be visible to those not in the group to avoid clutter for people who don't want to be a part of it.. I don't want this to affect the way we do things around here.. any overall changes to the forum will come in the form of tweaks, polish, new features, so on and so forth.. it wont be a vast restructure of how anything works.. and thats what this is.. simply another "feature"..
So my idea.. is a group that I suspect will be fairly small, with active (within reason of course) members who are dedicated to roleplay and realism.. We will vote on and implement everything from crops sales including contracts for goods and even an evolving market, buying/selling used equipment values, realistic operating hours.. so many things we could do towards realism..
But it would mean playing by a set of "rules".. While some of these things will have to work a certain way due to the work involved on the admin side of things as well as forum/game limitations, my intent is for us to vote on many aspects of how it all works and work as a group towards the grown and implementation of the whole things..
So that is the "general idea" of the whole thing.. Obviously I have loads of ideas and specifics already in mind but I wanted to put this out there and see if there was any interest.. Either way its going to happen as there are things I plan on using myself.. If you think you might want to be a part of it, let me know below.. we can discuss more ideas and features for it in the very near future but for the moment lets think of this as the "unofficial signup sheet" just to measure public interest mmkay? So there are a couple of things.. if you choose to have one or all of your farms involved in this you must agree to follow the "rules" we vote in as a group.. and you must participate "regularly".. like once a week or something.. just let us know you are still here and involved you know?
So, are you interested, thru the forum and roleplay, in moving in the direction of realism? Think I have lost my mind? that's ok too, just let me know what you think below!

I certainly like the idea of this. don't understand 100% what to expect, but that is no problem time will tell. Count me in, i play enough to at least participate with one of my farms. edit: I am not a farmer either, and i have far less experience with machinery then you. The only thing we have in fs (other than the car of course) that i have experience with is that i used a forklift a couple of times. So i know less about real life farming. luckily i like doing some research when i don't know how stuff is done in real life.

I am part of FSN already, which does this to an extent already but on a much larger scale, but I would be interested in participating a little, since I have farming background

I am interested to see the direction you go with it. I know when this forum first started the dealership was buying crops and stuff at one point but that seemed to drop off.

OMG tuki24ia you liked that??? I LOVED the idea of our own market place to sell our crops and what have you.. I came up with idea after idea..... but.... when I pitched it.. idk.. there was interest.. but when I started being limited on how I could do the actual market values for things it seemed like no one really wanted it so I just kind of left it be

I imagine it is kinda hard to figure out how to set prices and what to do with it all once starts coming in. I liked having the option of selling crop to another person for them to do what they will with it.

We still have that here.. The only problem was one I kind of foresaw from the beginning was.. the only "crops" that ever seem to get sold is bales of various types as being a farming game, if you need crops you would just produce them as opposed to contracting another farmer to produce said good like you might irl.. its an AWESOME idea especially on pc using the "extended" mods where you have to feed the animals all the additional crops.. cant exactly grow carrots as a small operation lol.. but people in game don't seem to be interested in that side.. The only way I can do it for the forum as a whole would be a market.. but for more realism and roleplay, thats the kinds of stuff we will be doing in the group... so if you wanted to say, be a clover or carrot farmer, you could focus on those crops and actually have "local" farmers who need your products for their animal farms.. this would be beyond amazing for say... a dedi server with a map like Chillington Valley (or any other high quality maps but I don't think there are currently out setup the way O.D. did that map feature wise.. its brilliant!) but yea I am overflowing with ideas.. I just need to get a bit of not so chaotic time to sit down and actually put some of my stuff into something usable on here for us....

As to the price thing... I actually created a "model" for it.. but the idea died (probably because I got sick if I am thinking logically about it) before I got a chance to test it on here.. I was toying with some ideas for the entire market including market crashes from unbalanced supply and demand.. The only thing that I had still not accounted for was how popular the feature would be.. I have to figure out the price change triggers based on how much crops you guys sell and I couldn't really do that without actually implementing it and just balancing it thru trial and error

been kicking over on the beta version of the forum!!!!!! I am creating everything based on the NEWEST version of the forum which honestly guys, is pretty sweet! I am liking the overall feel of it.. feels more.. modern and streamlined.. more features too (including a tractor emoji but we will get to that later lol).. I am liking the direction of this.. unfortunately now we cant use it as a full on forum.. its for testing and stuff.. I was warned that things might break or change and that at the end of the beta the test version I have now will ultimately go away.. but thats fine.. I have already started keeping a backup of the templet.. I don't know how to write code.. but I do know how to copy and paste plus when the time comes, it will be as easy as a click to convert this forum over to the new one and everything will be up and operational including the new portion of the forum (I have decided to keep things simple I am going to use 2 forums instead of a sub forum on here.. then no special groups required.. it will be linked to this forum in all the awesome ways as they make these things really easy to cross link and stuff.. What would look like a post/thread icon on here would in fact be a link to the other forum..

I know very little about it unfortunately. Last time i played on a dedi it was on fs17 and it wasn't my server. I do know that it was from the company Nitrado if i remember correctly. Edit: here is a list with possible server providers plus it shows a screenshot of the setup although it doesn't explain it so i don't know how much use it will be. www.farming-simulator.com/fs19-rent-a-dedicated-server.phpEdit 2: I have looked around a bit and i found a video of Farmer Klein which explains how to set it up. it doesn't look too complicated. here is a link, the interesting bit starts at about 11 minutes.

Nitrado is a good one, I think there's another one that starts with a G. FSN runs Nitrado servers, and those run really smooth. Between 150 servers, it's rare to see more than 5 down at a time (unless Giants is doing behind-the-scenes stuff)

Or if you want to get adventurous, buy another copy of the game and another PC and make your own, I’m pretty sure that the game download includes a dedi server program.
