This blog is about my farm and SugaBeet company in Attingham. I'm not sure if i will update this very often, since both the farm and factory are keeping me very busy but i just want to show you guys the place. This time i focus on the factory and next time i'll give a tour around the farm.
Just a bit of history, a couple of years ago we bought the farm "Cross fields dairy" in Attingham. It is a farm that does both arable work as livestock, both dairy cows and sheep. Since my son started to work full time on the farm, we needed to expand and that is how the SugaBeet company started. A little over a year ago the construction started. Now i focus most of all on the factory while my son runs the farm, although we do help each other in busy periods of course.
To start we bought sugar beets from some local farmers but we also planted beets in 3 of our own fields. The beets were growing nicely so we needed to buy equipment for harvesting. For that i turned to Sales Manager Bryan, he gave us a great deal on a big order.
Here you can see all the new equipment at the terrain of the factory. This is not where it will be stored, we have enough barn space at the farm, but i thought it would make a nice picture.
At the moment we are in harvest season. The harvest of our first and biggest field is complete. We managed to get just over 909 tons of beets from that field, luckily we had our two new 35 ton trailers to move the beets.
For now we just put them in our storage, we will start processing them tomorrow. Here you can see the 909 tons of beets, in the background you can also see pallets with sugar that are ready to sell.
Harvest was very busy, so i forgot to take pictures, but i did take some pictures of the Holmer Terra Felice in action loading the beets into my two Grimme trailers.
That is it for now, i might show a couple of pictures when we are processing the beets.
Edit: just a quick reminder. even though our beet storage is quite full at the moment, we still have our contract for buying your sugar beets at a very good price. check out the contracts section if you are interested!
