I was just wondering, what style do you guys employ on your farm?
I love tiny maps and equipment.. for me the MF 3090 will be a BIG workhorse.. I also love doing all the work myself.. If I get caught up in hiring workers and stuff it takes the fun right out and my game feels rushed.. next thing I know im rushing around like a crazy woman trying to keep up with everything.. I love slow paced and small.
How about you guys?

for me it depends on the map and the location of the map to decide on what equipment and how big of tools to use.

I try to start out as close to what I grew up with as possible. Its not exact but with mods I can get pretty close or something comparable. From there I just start growing.

To keep it interesting i usualy run 2 farms with way different approaches. One small/medium size with a maximum of one hiered hand, and that's just during harvest season (it's quite handy having someone carting). And a second on the medium + til very large scale. Now lone oak, before that i had a long play in western australia where i ran 3 large combines, 2 huge seeders, and a medium one (15ish meters ), Terragators 6-7 tractors and 2 large trucks for road trains (c500 + warrior) and the d754 for seed carting. On those i have a "few" farmhands employed. Nice thing with cp, they can sitt idle in a truck and get paied on a rearly quiet day, so i get that roleplayed in as the crew serviceing equiptment I am playing Greenw.v. at the moment but i can't seem to settle in there, so i've startet looking for another map (got miniburn? lined up atm) to play small on. Those setups are usualy 2 tractors, a combine, maybe a truck, if the distances are long (the d754 are a gem btw), an car of sorts and single setup with equiptment (plow/cultivator/seeder/planter). Greenw. and Lone oak are the first times since 15 i'm running cattle though Usually i just run arable and sheeps.

I usually have a vague story based roleplay, especially on 17, but with my 19 Oakfield save Iālol stretch a little (e.g buying new instead of used because I want to lol, even if I have to save up more) I tend to use standard mid sized equipment on fairly big maps like Oakfield and the West coast, for example my 7499 and 5 furrow plough on West coast and my Valtras and fastrac on Oakfield. Equipment rarely exceeds 6m. Occasionally I employ a role-played farm worker from along the very vague story (e.g inherited farm after owner retired, so he helps out every now and then). Always play as realistic as possible on 17, bit more carefree on 19 but keeping i it within boundaries

Also.. personally.. I am not in this game for the money aspect.. I couldnt care less how much moneys my farm makes.. Once I have my lil fleet of machines, the only thing I worry about is having money for supplies like seed or fert and even lime, and enough to pay the daily costs and equipment repairs.. thats why it probably seems like I am almost giving the stuff away on here like my bales and stuff.. because I am.. I would just give it all away if it didnt break the roleplay and economy.. honestly.. I just like driving the machines.. get my lil lineup set, a field or 2 and just putter around doing the jobs.. its so relaxing.. I couldnt imagine playing for any other reason

I keep two save games running so that I can alter play styles easily. The big til huge maps are more for managing a farm, with multiple workers.
Starting up a new farm now, as I just didn't settle in @ Greenwich V. New location in Ungetsheim looks promising for now. Probably going to exchange lone oak too soon. I really struggle with settling in, but when I do, I'm usually there for a long time, got around 100 hours on W. Australia. Had a few hundred hours on two rivers back in the day. Haven't had a smallish that I have settled on yet in 19. Ravensburg was good though.
Going for a small arable farm in Ungetsheim now, one combine, a pickup, 2 tractors (that new 180bhp fiat with tracks and a ihc c series), a Volvo BM loader and a truck if I can settle on one. (Who am I trying to deceive? It'll be the D again, if I only could find a decent grain trailer for it) I think I'm going for a lone workingman's farm, maybe a hired held in a couple of years š
At least if the farm goes well, so I can afford it

Probably isn't a secret here that I ended up in Hinterkaifeck. First map in a while that have managed to suck me into it. Currently just running with 1 map, and have a mediumĆ· operation going. Have a nice location just across from the church, where I currently have 10 holsteins, have 3 grass fields, and have built up a sheep pasture at the edge on one of them, where my 69 merinos enjoy their life. In addition I have 4 arable fields. Though I am thinking about selling the smaller one (17 19 is the corrext one) to keep my head above the bankruptcy ghost. (1069200 in depth at the moment). Looks like I'll manage it for another year but the buffer that field sale would give I think is important. And it really is a small field too.

I like small scale farming, preferably with equipment that is a bit older. i play on hard difficulty and i do several things to make it more difficult. for example i usually start a new map with a very big debt. Also when i get a deal that is a bit to good, either from buying a mod that is unrealistically cheap or getting a good deal buying or selling something here on the forum, i always compensate it in my role play(for example a vehicle breaking down which will cost a lot of money or some unexpected tax payment or other expense) If i'm still interested in a map after 20 hours i'm usually staying on the map for hundreds of hours. Currently i'm on the campaign of France map. I've got a couple hundred hours on it already and i still like it. After all those hours i still only have one small tractor. I like to think of a different story for my role play on each map, and i like to stick to a daily rhythm. for example i start my day around 5 am, and i start with feeding the cattle (i feed them twice a day) My only exception of the small scale farming was lone oak on fs17. i loved that map! But even there with those huge fields i used equipment with a maximum with of 6 meters. The only disadvantage of doing it that way is that in the end, it took me 250 real hours to go trough one year on that map. In total I've played well over 1000 hours on that map

I like big, square fields, but that may also be a little of the OCD in me. But I like to spend more than two minutes working a field. Like Jessi, I like to build up my fleet just so and go with a theme. One map was all Agco, one JD, on 15 my WBH map was New Holland, my Welker map is split between Case and Big Bud. So yeah, I like big fields and big hauls, so the Welker map really works for me. Just wish there was a wider selection of sell points.

Bryan, there are 2 different sell points you can place down from the modhub. There are 2 different bga's that can be placed down. Along with multiple barns/bale sell points. I think there is even a wool sellpoint on console.

Yeah, I'm going to download the new BGA this weekend, but I was referring to the fact that I only have 2 grain sell points, and the prices are virtually the same. But I suppose that makes it real to that part of Montana.

I had forgotten about the placeable sell point, being on console I have to watch how much I download and then worry about slot count on the actual map.
And yes, I read about that on yesmods when I saw it on the Giants forum. The price I pay for being on xbox, but at least I have this place to enrich my FS experience.
